Eat Skinny Be Skinny: Oil/Butter FREE Peanut Butter Choc. Chip Cookies

Pin It PIN IT!

And I win for the longest title in the history of blogging! Wahoo! Does anyone have a badge for that?

So friends, I had full intentions of blogging the amazing dinner I made on Tuesday today, BUT, I got sidetracked and found something else to talk about [what a shocker, right?]. But trust me ya’ll, this recipe I’m about to show you is totally worthy of stealing the spotlight.

Oh hey there, you delicious looking pile of cookies. BUT, do not be fooled. These aren’t your typical peanut butter chocolate chip cookies. They have super powers, you see. They are made with NO butter, NO oil and NO weird applesauce cohesive AND still taste absolutely incredible. Yep, told you, they are MAGIC!

I had a mean craving for something sweet but didn’t to derail how well I’ve been doing weight loss wise (down 2 pounds this week!) so I decided to try this recipe that I had bookmarked from Handle the Heat. First off, please check out that blog. It’s absolutely the cutest thing ever. Secondly, make these cookies. Thirdly (is this a word?) eat them. Oh and you have to serve them with a glass of cold milk. I  mean, who doesn’t eat their cookies with milk?

I made a few adjustments to the recipe. I added vanilla and some chopped walnuts!

Yields 12-14 cookies.

Butter/Oil Free Peanut Butter Chocolate Chip Cookies

CLICK HERE FOR THE PRINTABLE VERSION OF THIS RECIPE.

What You’ll Need:

  • 1 cup of low fat smooth peanut butter (I used SKIPPY! because I  like the name)
  • 1 cup of brown sugar
  • 2 eggs
  • 1/2 cup oats
  • 1/2 cup whole wheat flour
  • 1 teaspoon of vanilla
  • 1 teaspoon of baking soda
  • 1/2 cup of semi sweet chocolate chips
  • 1/2 teaspoon of cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1-2 tablespoons of crushed walnuts

How to Make Them:

  • Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Grease a cookie sheet using cooking spray.
  • Mix peanut butter & brown sugar in a small mixing bowl with an electric mixer until fully blended.

  • Stir in eggs, one at a time until fully mixed. Then add flour, baking soda, vanilla, cinnamon, salt and oats until fully mixed. Stir in chocolate chips.

  • Using an spoon, scoop balls onto the cookie sheet. Press the cookie balls down with the bottom of the spoon to press them down.  Bake for 12-14 minutes or until tops are golden brown.
  • Serve with milk and extra chocolate chips!

I absolutely love this recipe because it has NO added fat. You get that fat and protein from a much healthier source, the peanut butter! These definitely rival my low fat chocolate chip cookies.

Nutritional information per 1 cookie: 150 calories, 7 grams of fat, 18 grams of carbohydrates and 4 grams of protein.

Could you just use natural peanut butter?  That tends to have less sugars and the fats in peanut butter aren't bad for you.

Hey Tammy! Yes, I ussually always buy natural but veered away for this recipe. Sometimes it's fun to use ingredients you ate as a kid, don't you think? Thanks for the comment!

I don't know fiber content but it makes about 12-14 cookies, varies on how big you make them.

Tastes great I had low sodium peanut butter and when I added the sugar it looked really dry so I added 1/2 cup unsweetened applesauce. They came out soft like muffins.....so the recipe could also be turned into chocolate chip muffins!

I just made these tonight and they were absolutely to die for!!! I could hardly contain myself after I tasted the dough. It's a miracle any made it into the oven, but I'm sure glad they did! They had the perfect texture...chewy on the inside and crispy around the edges. And I love that they didn't taste or feel greasy, like cookies made with butter do. I used 1/2 whole grain spelt flour and 1/2 regular spelt flour. I also left out the walnuts and used a Dutch peanut butter that has tiny chunks of peanuts in it. I'm not a big fan of cinnamon, so I reduced it to 1/8 tsp, but next time I'd just leave it out all together. These are my new favorite cookies! Thank you thank you!

Hi, I'm a dietitian and I'm sure no one wants to hear another side...but low fat does not equate to low calories. Calories from any nutrient (protein, carbohydrate, fat) are still calories. Everyone needs to take in around 25% of their daily calories from fat..preferrably in the form of monounsaturated and polyunsaturated fat. As an alternative, eat some fruit. You could eat 2 small apples in place of 1 cookie and get lots of fiber and beneficial phytochemicals.

Yes, very true. But I'm all about indulging once in a while. If i want to eat a cookie, I'll probably eat a cookie. What I love about these is there aren't any additional fat sources, like butter or oil, and just get the moistness from the PB.

How are there no fats or oils in the recipe when one of the major ingredients used is full of hydrogenated vegetable oils(GMO!) Does anyone else see this? I'm sorry, but I must have visited the wrong page in search of a healthy recipe.

That's silly - she wants a desert- not an apple. But I would improve the healthiness of this recipe by using a peanut butter made with only peanuts. Don't be fooled- skippy contains sugars, weird added oil sources, and other strange ingredients. the alternative- peanut butter made with only peanuts contains none of that garbage but natural peanuts and their natural oils.

Amazing! I use the Splenda brown sugar mix instead of regular, and I always forget to convert the measurements. This means that my cookies had twice as much brown sugary sweetness. They are to die for and will still be yummy even with less Splenda. So excited to have found a recipe without oil and butter. Also, I'm glad there is no applesauce in it since that generally turns cookies more-so into muffins and I am not a fan of that.

Hmm, I agree with someone else who pointed out the hydrogenated fats in the peanut butter of choice. Also, there is quite a lot of refined sugar (in the PB and the brown sugar), which in many nutritionists opinions, is worse than fats. Fats are an essential component of our diets. Eatin days satiate you more completely and you end up eating far less.

Sorry, I recommend reading up on the importance of fat to the human body. You might find that being sugar-fearing is more helpful for weight loss than being fat-fearing.

    All the best.

Peanut butter contains oil. Why else would it be called peanut "butter"?

I'm looking for a recipe that contains absolutely 0% oil or butter or applesauce.

Good try though. Unfortunately me and my roommate are allergic to nuts.... and looking for a decent recipe is driving me nuts. :P
